Forsayth is the terminus of the Savannahlander train from Cairns. The area is located within the Etheridge Goldfield and adjacent to the Agate Creek Mineral Reserve.

Fossicking for gem stones is the main attraction and the town has a fine display of gems and gold collected over the years, together with memorabilia of the gold rush days. The area is rich in mining history and a word with the locals may reveal a story or two of some lucky strikes.
